This is a portrait of someone I used to love very much, still very much a friend. She was pretty much the first Japanese person I had ever known. Her ancient culture and its orientation towards art and decoration opened my eyes to new realms of expression and artistic freedom.
life size-welded steel I give Deviant Dolls permission to post this. This piece is available for purchase. Please note me for pricing. Daily DeviationGiven 2007-10-01"Asia",frontal view by ~ou8nrtist2 is an elegant steel work with a deep sense of peace. the elongated hair-shapes give the impression of weightlessness to the head, and the contrast between the round sections and the softer, wonderfully expressive face is a masterful touch. Fully half of my sculptures are made with recycled metal.

I viewed your work as well and found some inspiration there.
I love organic forms and try to translate into metal what I see and love without losing the sinuous flow.
That's why I love Art Nouveau so much.
I think some wrapping would translate well to metal.
Your root forms give me ideas...

He knew this woman as I had brought her back to Maine(where I'm from originally)for a long visit.
He said he's give me an "A" for this piece because of the way I used the hair as a pedestal for the head.
A rare compliment from the old master...
