Topographic Emotions

This figure's title was inspired by a very talented ,rather high strung ,emotional modern dancer,who was only completely calm,centered and at peace when she was dancing. There were little storms of emotive turbulence expressed on the surface of her highly tuned body.
The figure is made entirely of steel scrap from laser cutting. These shapes were the drops from the making of a large perforated decorative screen. I've welded them together to make this figure after taking body molds from the live model as a guide. Each shape was hammered on the anvil until if fit flush against the INSIDE of the 2 piece mold.Only when it fit closely was it welded to the last piece,and thus the form was built up slowly but surely.
