I made this cuff when I was 15 . I'd just returned from a solo adventure by motorcycle across France (3 months). It was a reaction to the amazing Art Nouveau pieces encountered along the way, especially Jewelry and glass work by Rene Lalique. The stone was left me by my maternal grandmother ,an accomplished silversmith in her own right before her stroke. I thought placing it in a bracelet was an appropriate way to take her with me. I wore it until age 35 when I started making jewelry in stainless steel. As a boy ,I was told the stone was jade. Only recently I discovered that it is in fact aventurine.
