Pill Bug ,No.2 by ou8nrtist2 Pill Bug ,No.2 by ou8nrtist2
The first one went out the door so quickly I barely had a chance to enjoy it,so I've made another a bit smaller 3 1/2 inches dia.
Welded stainless steel and silicon bronze.

Again I must thank Blepharopsis for his most excellent reference photos...
He truly has a most remarkable talent with MACRO...

The little blue spot on the eye is merely the reflection of the blue sky when I shot the piece outside...

This piece is available for purchase.
Please note me for pricing.

It's actually a Miniseries from the late 90's. It's a pretty screwed up Sci-Fi series (Germany/Canada). Not to be confused with the much weaker series following it.
Lexx is trashy and shouldn't be taken seriously, lol. But it features a lot of insect-theming and the final confrontation takes place against a titanic insectiod ship, which looks an awful lot like your sculpture.

Give it a try if you can find it, copies seem to be pretty rare.
Amazon is out of it:

Might be lucky at eBay or something, although I wouldn't spend too much money on it. It's trashy, entertaining and pretty obscure, but not so great as to spend a few hundreds on it, lol.

I gave up TV in 1987 with pot and beef...LOL,
the three things that were slowing me down (in different ways) and keeping me from actualizing my dreams...
I'm now fully cleansed of the detritus those electrons cause...LOL

Very nice, especially considering the materials you used. Reminds me of the Gigashadow in Lexx:The Dark Zone...

It's a little too big and cumbersome for a belt buckle...LOL
It's actually sort of OK by itself too.
I did have a thought to wrap it around a half eaten crab or clam or something.
Their underwater dens are littered at the entrance with the exoskeletons of their prey,it's one way to find an octopus lair actually...

We burn.
The sun goes down a deep red.
They say it will be this way now every year.
I bet there will be comprehensive and unified public effort to clear lands of burnable brush,at least bordering communities so they have at least a chance of being defended. Firemen are the new heroes. There have been so many examples of risking life and limb to protect strangers homes...

Wow, dang, never a fun time. Hope it's safe around you, Stephen, sir. It's amazing how people can band together against a common foe, esspecially against one so tempermental as fire.

True enough,
For some reason I've been spared thus far...(knock on formica)...
But I just met with clients in Healdsburg(Quivira Winery) (North about 30 miles), and it's 107 degrees up there.
Our air is cloudy because of all the fires in California but not one locally thank God.
Tomorrow is predicted to be even hotter with no relief in sight until AFTER the weekend.
I'm thinking of just going to my favorite secret spot tomorrow (North of bodega Bay)with a sketch book.

That way I can actually get some designing work done while in a "temperate"zone.
And those seals out there love me,for some reason...

Simply gorgeous sir, I'm envious. I have to drive two hours before I get to my favorite spot. I hope that the fires stay far away then. Also, you're a better man than I, 107 plus humidity is not fat-guy weather. I've never seen wild seals before, that's awesome.

Even when it's really hot it's not like 90% humidity (like back east).
You can stand a much higher range if it isn't humid.
It suddenly cooled off thanks to a thick marine layer that generally hovers off the coast and moves in at night.
The fires still rage but they got a leg up over night on one of the worst ones (the Paradise fire),because the wind died unexpectedly and the moisture content went up. There are over 20,ooo fire fighters currently on the lines at present. And there's been a call to Mexico and Canada for engines (which are coming apparently). Also New Zealand and Australian wildland fire fighting instructors will be arriving soon to train several thousand of our national guardsmen. All this is incredibly expensive and the governator is already talking about raising taxes to compensate...
Meanwhile when it gets to heavy I find the seals and "commune". We just float together in seaweed beds. I find their company quite soothing ,and for some reason they don't seem to mind me personally...
