Finally finished.
The legs are in bronze, the exoskeleton is in stainless steel.
My best reference photo was by Igor Siwanowicz,a fellow deviant artist...(better known as Blepharopsis)
[link]
Diameter 7.5 inches.
And yes ,it is true that this is NOT an insect but a crustacean.
It bears an uncanny resemblance to the newly discovered bathynomus giganteuse (18 " long marine crustacean found in 2000 ft. depth)...
Not to be confused with a SOW BUG which has two short stickery "tails" and does not roll up into a tight ball like the PILL BUG or armadillidium vulgareous.

Personal accountablility... Get some.
They seem to be ubiquitous,
rolly pollies as we used to call them...
good job :)

"I wish I was a glow worm, a glow worm is never glum, for how can you be unhappy when the sun shines out your bum?"
Thank you...
Every corner of the globe has a different name for em...
"It's an ugly planet. It's a bug planet!" -Starship Troopers...actually, this is beautiful, like medieval armor...the hammerhead is a little disturbing...do we really want to cross sharks with these things? And...just me needing sleep, I think...I kept looking at this wondering why it was in a glass...then realised...no glass. This is my brain NOT on drugs...it looks so peaceful curled like that...I'd love to see a larger one...articulated...hanging on the wall in my Father's nursing home...

...on second thought- not my best idea...

seriously. it IS beautiful.

"When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college- that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared back at me, incredulous, and said, "You mean they FORGET?" -Howard Ikemoto
Very cool.

I feel a desire for a palm sized one that's articulated, to play with....

:giggle: And why can't you make something I don't like for once? :giggle:

We called them rolly pollies when I was a kid, then I moved to a place that called them pill bugs, then another place that called them potato bugs, lol. This is beautiful, I love it.
