This wide (54" x 58") walkway gate will be mounted between two stone columns in the entry to a home surrounded by olive orchards. This steel armature will be sheathed in 3/4" wood on both sides and faux painted. The gate will be hung on simple pintel hinges drilled into the rock. All forged steel. I have wire brushed the branches to accentuate the highlights and sprayed it with a KRYLON clearcoat finish, but that is intended to break through and develop a natural rust patina within several months (depending on the weather).
I'm using that new Lincoln welder only until I get my old Miller 200 workhorse fixed. It's actually a pretty nice machine, especially the roller design which allows you to change wire thickness without changing roller spools...but it's a wimp compared to my old Miller... Oh,and olives DO indeed split the difference.I have a HUGE (sliding)grape leaf gate coming up next which will have grape clusters as well, with a lower panel of forged grasses...Stay tuned.
BTW, I think I have the same model MIG in my shop.
