Octopus Tentacle Bathroom Towel Hook by ou8nrtist2 Octopus Tentacle Bathroom Towel Hook by ou8nrtist2
This is the final look of the tentacle towel hook as mounted. Each one is drilled and countersunk to accept a 5/16" hangar bolt. The 3" lag screw end goes into a stud through the little porthole shaped hardware.
The tentacle is in solid forged stainless steel. The porthole piece is in machined stainless.
There is obviously a fair amount of handwork welding and forging. This is reflected in the listed price at $100 each.

Loooove it! Tentacles are freakin sweet (my fiancÚ's engagement ring is a pair of tentacles holding a stone, so obviously I like 'em). You make the coolest art! Also, if you're still making these when I get a job, I might commission you.

It looks even better on the wall. I don't think 100 dollars is a big chunk of money for the effort you put in to that.
If i rebuild my bathroom i will think of you, cause this is an epic piece!

That is so awesome. Out of my range currently, but awesome. And it would go great with the fish sculptures *daydreams*

I know these were a commission piece, right? Do you think you will make more to sell elsewhere? These would go great in our bathroom...lol

Indeed I will make more.
I went WAY over budget for these initial 6 pieces ,learned allot ,and the next batch will be even more realistic, but the fact is I have to charge more ,so they are $100 each now...

I don't think $100 is an unacceptable price for something as nice as those. Makes sense to me.

Several folks have said the same thing.
Funny, they don't seem creepy to me at all,but I guess in the Steampunk Genre that element is actually seen as a plus.

So much work had to have gone in to welding the suckers, yet they are hidden on the underside, barely visible. Yet I imagine they add a tactile satisfaction to the piece; running your hand along the underside of the hook, seeing them in your mind.

Magnificent work, as always. I really do love your use of natural forms in such an... industrial medium.

That is my own criticism as well.In the next batch they will have a graceful twist so the suckers can be seen no matter what angle the hook is viewed. You always work out the bugs with the prototype, and hopefully get better as you become more practiced with the form.I also study allot of reference photos and archeological artifacts.

I think that will be a fantastic improvement on the design, I look forward to seeing it.

As a side note, it's very interesting to see your work here, as the insight you provide into your creative process is really inspiring. :)
