Description
I like to hone my chops in different decorative styles when I don't have a commission. This piece was a pleasure to build in that the original conception(the visual image in my head)is identical to what you see here. As I have stated many times the exercise of Active Imagination is flexing a muscle of Will,and like any exercise,with practice the muscle becomes developed and facile.
With Minimalist Design the decorative aspects are expressed more by subtle relationships of scale, volume, form and craftsmanship. This presents a challenge to designers (like myself) to express themselves with restraint rather than virtuosity...
The frame is welded 1/4 steel plate and the glass is 1/4 inch thick as well. The lower demi-lune shelf is 1/8th thick and has 3 gussets underneath.
