Description

OK here's some early work 1978 (I think)...
To simulate the leathery skin of this critter(neck and shoulders),I've turned off the shielding gas on my MIG welder so that it carburizes and created a very porous metal surface texture...
Any teacher that tells you there are RULES to the making of ART is either afraid to branch out of the friggin box themselves or terrified that you may do so and discover some entirely new and different thing, eclipsing their myopic view. "Those that can,do. Those that can't,teach."
I have a personal handicap in that I feel slighted by instructional manuals. I therefore often disregard them. While this no doubt has more than once caused "complications...(the Italian espresso machine immediately comes to mind)",it has as many times led me to an entirely new decorative arts technique and embellished effect (as here).
If you are currently an art student and see any affinity with my work WHATSOEVER ,the MOST IMPORTANT THING I would convey to you is that there are NO RULES...
