Description

I have a special relationship and rapore with fire.I believe it is genetic in my clan since I witnessed it in my father (and there is evidence of it in all my direct male ancestors on his side of the family)as well. But it goes way beyond a simple facility or working relationship.
Fire is Primordial.
It is one of those mystical elements like electricity or gravity, science can describe but even now in the 21st century cannot adequately define. I mean," rapid oxidation" merely scratches the surface.
You could say the same about rust.
I was fortunate to have had his tutelage(my father's) VERY early (teaching me to weld at 8 years old),to guide my love of fire in creative and productive ways because ,like all elementals it can be creative, but also has the power to be incredibly destructive as well...Learning how to wield (and weld) with such a concentrated and powerful force at such an early age contained within it a type of inherent ethics and morality, and an over arching awareness of responsibility that has proved pivotal in my life. I do not therefore consider it unconscionable to give great responsibility to individuals of tender years. But it does take great skills at determining WHO IS WORTHY and providing them with ENLIGHTENED GUIDANCE...

This is a model I made last Winter of an idea I've had for some time for a large scale sculpture(visualize about 13ft.)
Niki came by today to pick up her door knocker and fell in love with this piece as well,so I let it go...

What materials or tools did you use? What kind of metal? Where do you get the metal? I want to learn how to work with metal.
