Elliptical Soapdish

This is a small soapdish I designed,in the background,with the same design polished a little bit further for use as a small table dish for finger food;olives,nuts etc. It has been laser-cut from stainless sheet then I've cold formed it using a spherical male and female die on my press. In my original design drawn flat on paper I choose what was to me an aesthetic ellipse,one of my favorite shapes.I checked it with my Sacred Geometry Calipers and it was almost exactly in Phi proportions.

That is to say ,on the flat drawing the long axis is 1.618 times the width of the short or narrow axis. I believe the artist's eye should be the final arbiter of beauty when creating a piece,thus I use the calipers to sort of CHECK MY WORK after the fact RATHER THAN depending on them entirely to infuse beauty...Beauty thus described is WAY MORE than mere mathematical precision,but involves a myriad order of subjective phenomenon...
