This is my current favorite project I'm making "on speculation" (not a commission).I've wanted to attempt this for a very long time. It's a challenging fabrication since each piece must be shaped and formed before the weld up and there are no straight lines...I think as far as straight up fabrication goes, this is the most difficult piece I've attempted. But I'm making pretty good progress and if I can maintain my patience it should come out alright. Taxonomically this is a thoracic vertebra from a TURSIOPS TRUNCATUS or bottle-nose dolphin.I have a real vertebra (or had one i should say),I crushed it by accident today. But no matter,I'm far enough along so I don't actually need it now anyway... All hot and cold formed 1/8th inch welded stainless steel.
awesome stuff again Stephen. This reminds me of the conference table you made few years ago, only i'm quite sure this will be even more 'epic'. Like the rest of your fanclub, I can't wait to see the result of this spine crushing work.. friendly greetings.^^
Yes,I guess that other piece was just a warm-up for this...
The best thing is I'm having fun with the challenge...
