Crenelated sink installed

This is my crenelated stainless steel sink(11 ga.) cast in a polished concrete counter top and installed. My partner Pat Miller of bohemianstoneworks.com casts the whole piece (with my sink in it) UPSIDE DOWN in his shop on specially made platen tables (also made by me)after taking precise measurements in whatever space it will be installed in.
He has way more control of all the parameters of the casting process in his shop than he would have if the piece were cast on site like many others do in that business. The matrix of pebbles in the mix are revealed by his strategic grinding through the surface "cream" around the edge of the sink. This also lets the splash drainage occur somewhat easier,but it's primarily an aesthetic detail. There are several small pins welded to the sink in an array just below the surface ,to lock it in the concrete. This shape is very forgiving in regards the heat expansion that occurs when very hot water is poured into the sink. Pat spent nearly a year experimenting to create his own formula of high performance concrete with various proprietary additives to try to bring the expansion coefficients of the concrete and the stainless sink closer together.
The spout and mixers(faucets) are also designed and made by me. Our visual idea of inspiration was,coming upon a small pool naturally sculpted in the rock of a high mountain stream after a long hike(much like the west fork of the Yuba river near Nevada City,Ca).
