Arts and Crafts Railing-detail

This is the other side of the stairway showing the 12 foot piece up the stairs and the textured surface. The handrail is domed and textured. We made a die that accomplished the slight convex surface and hammered the piece upside down. The ball peined surface texture was done cold on top,after the rail was shaped. A piece this big always takes two people to hold it as it's being hammered with the trip hammer.
All forged steel with a clear coat lacquer.
