You channeling Kinkade or something? This is seriously the single best image I've ever seen that could provide me with sufficient motivation to go build "that place" I've had rattling around in my head for so long. Think of all the cool things I'll have to learn fist: masonry, welding... Woo-Hoo!

You should see the "backyard".
First thing they did is re-orient the pool because it had bad Feng shui.
Then there are the faux Roman ruins...(oh pleeeease).
I hope that Kincaid comment was a joke...
His work makes me gag. But then so does any artform that is as reproduced as his...
I'm sincerely glad for any artist that can eeek out a living these days ,but if and when it gets to K-Mart there has to be an intervention...

Yeah, the Kinkaid comment was in jest. The problem with many artists is that, once they figure out what sells, they stop growing.

You remember Keen paintings? The ones with the *huge* eyes? Talk about yer K-Mart...

So, they moved a whole pool because of bad Feng Shui? *AND* put in faux Roman ruins??? Yeah, pleeeease, indeed!

Well, the bottom line is that, Kinkaid jokes asside, that shot of the gate is something that really moved me. I'm happy you got to do it and even happier that you shared it with us.

Thank you,
that's nice to hear cause I'm struggling with a whole day of missed communications, wasted design hours and fruitless inquiries...
The stiffling heat here has brought everything to a standstill, most particularly my brain. I wish so much for an East Coast downpour...

Yeah, San Diego doesn't get real hot very often, but a few weeks ago, all I could do was lie around like 3rd base. It's supposed to be pretty gnarly in a few days, too. You're getting all the fires now, we got 'em last year in October - my family was evacuated, but no harm came to us or our property. I hope you aren't in any danger, but I suspect you aren't.

I "get to be" in Washington DC at the end of next month, I'll tell you all about the East Coast Downpours. It'll be 99 degrees and 105% humidity... But the Smithsonian Air & Space museum is air conditioned, so that's all *I* care about!

Cheers;

Heh... yeah.
Here's one of me in front of the Lincoln Memorial sweating my ass off.
Here's another of me at the Washington Monument sweating my ass off.
Here's me sweating my ass off as I go into the Air & Space Museum.
Here's a bunch of cool shots of stuff at the museum
Here's me sweating my ass off as I leave the museum
Here's me sweating my ass off in front of the Hilton
Here's me collapsing in my room from dehydration.

I can hardly wait...

This must be the only time of the year you have off to go,
otherwise why would anyone ever go there during the hot season...

I like the look of it, but could see how some one might have mixed emotions...10 years have given it a lot of character...then again...they could have taken better care of it...still...I wouldn't want to piss the owners off...it's been a long time since I had to counter a spell...

I couldn't actually remember what wood I used but I'm now pretty sure it must have been redwood because that silvery look is exactly how it looks over time...

Looks like the moss between the rocks died over the 10 years though maybe you should photoshop that back in. ;-)

The original garden designer that brought me in on the job slathers stone walls with a mixture of yogurt and fresh cow manure.
It's an old British gardeners trick and it encourages that lovely moss, but you have to maintain it...
