I designed this desk for a heavy stone top which is supported at each end by"wings" and touches the top of each arch in the center. It's made from recycled 4"wide rolled channel steel, and bolts together.

They don't want stone. They want to pour a slab of concrete and put that on top. They have some experience with concrete so I'm anticipating a nice top.If I know them they'll do a great job...

I think that would look awesome with a big slab of glass for a desktop! Beautiful!

I can only imagine what a 6" thick slab of glass would cost! Or where in the world you might find one....

Impossible to get.
I was thinking of 3/4 or 1" thick, which is still damn hard to find and expensive.I've got a 5 footer that's beveled all round it's perimeter but it's only 3/8ths thick.I may have to make another version of this table for my glass piece...

Yeah ... I was thinking that REALLY thick glass would probably crack as it cooled. Too bad, that would be awesome!

There is something about the shape of that arch that is just so pleasing. Lovely work.

A rack to go underneath and it would be a great place to put fire wood for the grill and oven, unless they use gas, then it is just really cool.
